Deedee Morris is an awe-inspiring photographer whose work (deedeemorris.com) is not only beautifully raw, but is also incredibly honest. She dives in deep with her subjects, getting to know them on a personal and spiritual level, and is then able to capture a single moment that portrays their vulnerable individuality in stunning ways. Her work celebrates family, motherhood, self-understanding, and love of the natural world, all of which are outward expressions of her own values and ambitions. Deedee’s pursuit of authenticity is a rare and powerful experience.

When asked to describe her workshop, Deedee said this, “Everyone’s story is sacred and everyone wants to be seen on some level. This workshop is about tapping into your intuition, asking and listening, and the power of storytelling to connect to, visualize and allow for people to be truly seen. My creative medium is photography, but my explorations are of relationships, to each other and to self.”

Join us for the incredible opportunity to hear from and dialogue with Deedee Morris about her heart led photography. Come and be inspired!

Does listening to a bunch of good music give you the urge to jump up and be a part of the magic? Come out to Something’s Brewing to take part in a unique collaborative experiment! We want to hear what kind of beats, rhythms, rhymes, and riffs you can come up with. If you’ve got something that you’re already working on and you want the input of a creative bunch, this would be a great time to get feedback.

The Community Sessions are going to be an ‘open mic’ style event on the back porch of our favourite little coffee shop, Something’s Brewing, overlooking the St. Croix River. This is a chance to time to perform, write, experiment and be surprised by what kind of artistic expressions can manifest during a period of intentional collaboration. We encourage you to come with an open mind as the sky is the limit for what our Community Sessions could become.

Creativity Workshop – Electronic Music Tutorial

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

St. Stephen’s University – 8 Main St, St. Stephen, NB

Saturday, August 17, 2019

10:00am – 12:00pm

Cost: $15 (Day Pass) or Festival Pass

Rick Coates is a true music lover with a great passion for electronic music. His transcendental ambient tracks are varied and fine tuned, evoking a deep and emotional experience. He’s the kind of guy that really takes note of those tiny, subtle shifts in tone and pitch that give a track its depth of character. (https://soundcloud.com/rickcoates)

Rick wants to share his love with all of us by leading a tutorial for how to create a digital track. This creativity workshop will give any level of musician the tools they need to start creating tracks right on their laptop. We hope that Rick’s passion will become yours too, and that you continue to be inspired to create great art and collaborate with your community.

In this workshop you will learn how to use free software tools, running on a personal computer, to create electronic music. We will start with the basics of electronic music making using the open-source virtual modular synthesizer, VCV Rack, which is available as a free download for both Mac and Windows, and has an ever-growing library of free add-on modules. Once we have covered the basics, we will build a synthesizer “patch” and create a complete song from scratch. If you bring a laptop and headphones, we will get VCV Rack setup on your computer, so you can follow along as we create a song together, plus you will have VCV Rack to continue your journey in making electronic music.
